- Fascinimet e ‘Abduhū-së ndaj pikëpamjeve të Tolstoĭt
Mendimet dhe qëndrimet e Muhammed ‘Abduhū-së rreth Lev Tolstoĭt më së miri kuptohen prej shkresës së ‘Abduhū-së të cilën ai e shkroi në arabisht, e në anglisht e përktheu Lady Anne Blunt, tashmë mbesa e përmendur e poetit Lord Bajron, dhe gruaja e shkrimtarit anglez Wilfrid Scawen Blunt. Shtojmë që Lady Anne (1837-1917) jetoi gjatë në Kajro, ku në pasurinë e vet të madhe, është marrë me rritjen e kuajve arabë të racës fisnike, gjithashtu Lady Anne udhëtoi me burrin e saj W. S. Blunt në shumë vende dhe rajone të Lindjes së Mesme, për këtë e njihte mirë gjuhën arabe.
Prej librit “Seri e punimeve të panjohura të Muhammed Abduhūsë” (Silsiletu li a’mālil-mexhhūlah muhammed ʽabduhū), të cilin në vitin 1987 e botoi në Londër ‘Ali Shalash, ne mësojmë që Lady Anne Blunt për muftiun ‘Abduhū përkthente prej arabishtes në anglisht edhe disa bashkëngjitjet dhe intervistat e tij.
Sipas të dhënave të cilat i jep Alexander B. Kudelin, letra e Muhammed ‘Abduhū-së Lev Tolstoĭt është e datuar me 8 prill të vitit 1904, dhe është e shkruar në ‘Ajnush-Shems, periferia e Kajros. Shkresa i është (arabisht origjinal dhe përkthimi i saj në anglisht nga Lady Anne Blunt) dorëzuar Tolstoĭt me ndërmjetësim të koleksionistit anglez të dorëshkrimeve, historianit dhe shkrimtarit Sydney Cockerelli (1867-1961). Gjegjësisht, Kudelini citon fragmentin prej letrës të cilën Tolstoĭ e shkroi më 12 maj1904, dhe ia drejtoi Sydney Cockerellit, në shkresë Tolstoĭ thotë:
“Tani pranova letrën e muftiut dhe shumë u jam falënderues që ma keni dërguar. Letra e muftiut është aq lindore, me ngjyrim falënderues saqë gjej se kam vështirësi të përgjigjem në të. Por, unë do të provoj ta bëj këtë dhe kam kënaqësi të madhe të komunikoj me një personalitet aq interesant”.
Edhe vet Wilfrid Scawen Blunt në ditarët e veta në Appendixin 1, ditën e 10 prillit të vitit 1904, shënon lajme rreth kësaj letre të ‘Abduhū-së dhe sjell përkthimin e saj në anglisht me titullin: “The Grand Mufti of Egypt to Count Leo Tolstoi (Myftiu i madh i Egjiptit kontit Lev Tolstoĭt)”. Gjithashtu, Blunt shënon që kjo shkresë është e datuar me 8 prill të vitit 1904 (“Ain Shems, near Cairo”- Ajn Shems, afër Kajros). Siç shihet prej të dhënave të cilat japin ‘Ali Shalash dhe W. S. Blunt, historiani i përmendur anglez dhe koleksionisti i dorëshkrimeve, Sydney Cockerell, qëndroi në Kajro në periudhën shkurt-mars-prill të vitit 1904. Sydney Cockerell ia dorëzoi letrën Lev Nikoláevič Tolstoĭt, është për të supozuar që ai vet e mori letrën prej Kajros, dhe për më tepër me bashkëshortët Anne dhe Wilfrid Bluntin mori pjesë në nxitjen (bindjen) e Muhammed ‘Abduhū-së që atë letër t’ia shkruajë shkrimtarit të famshëm Tolstoĭt.
Në bazë të të gjithave, kjo shihet qartë prej të dhënave të cilat i sjell Alexander B. Kudelin në studimin e vet Muhammad ‘Abduhū’s Letter to Leo Tolstoi (Letra e Muhammed ʽAbduhū-së Lev Tolstoĭt), gjegjësisht ai citon letrën e Sydney Cockerellit (prej 2 maj 1904) në të cilën ai i drejtohet Lev Nikoláevič Tolstoĭt:
“Ndoshta kujtoheni që ju kam folur dhe shkruar rreth simpatisë të cilën shejh Muhammed ‘Abduhū, muftiu i madh i Egjiptit, shprehu për sjelljen dhe të mësuarit tuaj. Unë kohët e fundit isha në Kajro dhe ai më besoi letrën e vulosur që t’ua dorëzoj juve. Në anglisht e përktheu Lady Anne Blunt, udhëtare e njohur dhe njohëse e gjuhës arabe, e cila është mike dhe fqinje (gjatë periudhës së dimrit) e këtij muftiu. Ndoshta letra do t’ju inkurajoj në kohë, kur deklarata juaj e guximshme rreth përplasjes fatkeqe në Lindje duhej shkaktuar armiqësi prej të shumtëve, të pranoni këtë shprehje të simpatisë prej një njeriu të urtë nga një tjetër religjion, i cili pësoi shumë në emër të parimeve të cilat nuk i ndajnë gjithmonë bashkëqytetarët e tij”.
