Sulltan Murati IV, sulltan i Perandorisë Osmane (1623-1640), shpeshherë dilte fshehtas nëpër qytet për të parë nga afër hallet e popullit. Një mbrëmje, ai ndjeu një shtrëngim në gjoks dhe vendosi të dalë jashtë. E thirri njërin nga shoqëruesit e tij dhe së bashku morën rrugët e qytetit. Në rrugë e sipër, gjetën një njeri të shtrirë përtokë. E prekën të shtririn, por panë se ai ishte i vdekur dhe se njerëzit e tjerë po merreshin me punët e tyre. Askujt nuk i bëhej vonë për të vdekurin. Sulltani iu drejtua njerëzve, por ata nuk e njohën as që e pyetën se çfarë dëshironte:

“Pse ky i vdekur ndodhet shtrirë përtokë dhe askujt nuk i bëhet vonë për të?”

“Ai është një pijanec dhe kurvar!” – ia kthyen të pranishmit.

“Vallë, a nuk është ai nga ummeti i Muhammedit (s.a.a.)? Më ndihmoni ta çojmë në shtëpinë e tij” – u kërkoi Sulltani.

Të pranishmit e ndihmuan dhe me të arritur tek shtëpia e të vdekurit, që të gjithë u larguan. Ngelën vetëm Sulltani dhe ndihmëtari i tij. Kur gruaja e të vdekurit e pa kufomën e të shoqit, filloi të qajë dhe me këto fjalë iu drejtua trupit të burrit të vdekur:

“Allahu të mëshiroftë, o mik i Allahut! Dëshmoj se ishe nga të devotshmit”.

Sulltani i hutuar e pyeti gruan e të vdekurit: “Si vallë e konsideron prej të devotshmëve kur njerëzit thonë gjëra të liga për të? Aq të liga sakaq askujt s’i bëhet vonë për vdekjen e tij?”

Ajo ia ktheu: “E prisja këtë. Im shoq shkonte në tavernë çdo natë dhe blinte verë aq sa kishte mundësi. Pastaj e sillte atë në shtëpi, e derdhte të tërën dhe thoshte: “Shpëtova paksa muslimanët sot”. Më pas shkonte te një prostitutë (lavire), i jepte të holla dhe i thoshte që ta mbyllë derën e shtëpisë deri në mëngjes. Pastaj kthehej në
shtëpi dhe thoshte: “Sot e shpëtova një të re dhe disa besimtarë të rinj nga amoraliteti”. Njerëzit e shihnin atë duke blerë verë dhe duke shkuar tek prostitutat dhe rrjedhimisht flisnin për të. Një ditë prej ditësh, unë [bashkëshortja] i thashë:

“Kur të ndërrosh jetë, nuk do të ketë njeri që të të lajë, nuk do të ketë njeri që do të ta falë namazin e xhenazes dhe nuk do të marrë pjesë askush në varrimin tënd!” Ai qeshi dhe ma ktheu:

“Mos ki frikë! Sulltani i besimtarëve, së bashku me të devotshmit do të luten mbi trupin tim”. E Sulltani me lot në sy i tha të vejës:

“Pasha Allahun! Ai e ka thënë të vërtetën, sepse unë jam Sulltan Murati. Nesër, do ta lajmë trupin e tij, do t’ia falim namazin e xhenazes dhe do ta varrosim”. Dhe kështu ndodhi. Sulltani, dijetarët, njerëzit e devotshëm dhe masa e gjerë e popullit u lutën dhe ia falën namazin e xhenazes.

Neve i gjykojmë njerëzit nga ajo që e shohim dhe nga ajo që e dëgjojmë nga të tjerët. Ah sikur ta shihnim se çfarë fshehin ata në zemrat e tyre, fshehtësi kjo mes tyre dhe Zotit të tyre, Allahut!

“O ju që keni besuar, largohuni prej dyshimeve të shumta, meqë disa dyshime janë mëkat dhe mos hulumtoni për zbulimin e të metave të njeri-tjetrit, dhe mos përgjoni njëri-tjetrin; a mos ndonjëri prej jush dëshiron të hajë mishin e vëllait të vet të vdekur? Atë pra e urreni! Kini frikë nga ndëshkimi i Allahut, e All-llahu është Mëshirues, Ai pranon shumë pendimin”. (Kur’an, Surja el-Huxhurat, ajeti 12)
