Qyteti i Profetit Muhamed s.a.a.
Në fillimet e Islamit Xhamia e Medines nuk ishte njëvend i cili shërbente vetëm për
lutjet dhe namazin; ajo ishte dhe qendra e diskutimeve dhe e veprimtarive të tjera fetare
e shoqërore të myslimanëve. Sa herë që dilte e nevojshme që të bëhej një kuvend, njerëzit
mblidheshin në këtë Xhami. Atje mësonin çdo lajm të rëndësishëm dhe çfarëdo vendimi
i ri qëmerrej u shpallej njerëzve po në atë vend.
Gjatë që ndrimit të tyre nëMekë, myslimanët
kishin shumë liri të kufizuara; ata nuk mund ti kryenin detyrimet e tyre fetare të lirshëm
dhe as nuk mund mësonin lirshëm fenë e tyre. Kjo gjendje vazhdoi deri kur Islami hyri në
një pikë tjetër të rëndësishme të Arabisë, që quhej “Jethrib” dhe pastaj mori emrin
“Medinetu’n Nebij”që do të thotë Qyteti i Profetit. Sipas propozimit të banorëve të këtij
qyteti dhe në bazë të besës që ata i kishin dhënë Hazretit Muhammed dhe Profeti
i nderuar u shpërngul për në këtë qytet. Ca nga ca, filluan të shpërnguleshin dhe myslimanët
e tjerë në këtë qytet. Liria e aktiviteteve të myslimanëve fillon që nga ajo kohë. Puna e parë
që Profeti bëri sapo erdhi në këtë qytet, caktoi nje copë tokë dhe me ndihmën e shokëve
e tëtjerë ve, ndërtoi aty këtë Xhami.
